A new product has been dedicated to Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov – the "Bat' Boyko" firecrackers have reportedly emerged as a total hit in the Black Sea city of Varna.

"Bat' Boyko", literally "Big Brother Boyko", is an affectionate (or alternatively – ironic) nickname with which Bulgarians often use to refer to their Prime Minister.

Boyko Borisov himself started his working career as a firefighter at the country Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"The new firecrackers are available in red, yellow and green and produce nice visual effects," a proud salesman has told the Bulgarian media.

In 2009, a new brand of rakiya – the traditional Bulgarian brandy – was named "Borisovka", also after the Prime Minister.

Fireworks, though often illegal, have been extremely popular in Bulgaria on New Year celebrations, which has led to many unpleasant accidents over the years, especially when used under the influence.
