Bulgaria's Minister without Portfolio for Bulgarians Abroad, Bozhidar Dimitrov, who resigned Sunday, has stated he did not have any regrets and that he did not feel like a victim.

"I do not have feelings of spite and I do not feel like a victim," Dimitrov said Monday in an interview for the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV.

The diaspora minister resigned Sunday after it was revealed that he was a former agent of the Communist State Security.

"I feel like I got into a political situation that requires my loyalty – not only to the prime minister, but to my friend Boyko Borisov. I want to make it easy on him, to give him the opportunity to react in the best possible way in this political situation," Dimitrov said.

He confirmed that his department in the Council of Ministers will continue to exist. He added that it will most probably be headed by the Director of the State Agency for Bulgarian Abroad, Rosen Ivanov.

The former minister also said he will not return to the Parliament, but will rather head the National Museum of History.

Dimitrov said he does not regret anything that has happened in the last year and a half, in which he was the Minister without Portfolio.

"I have no regrets. I showed that the scandals around me turn to positive things in the end. The price for that was not high. This was a job like any other, only at a higher position," he said.
