Sofia's Court of Appeal will launch Friday the much awaited trial against the notorious Bulgarian alleged crime bosses, Krasimir Marinov and Nikolay Marinov, aka The Marguin Brothers, on charges of ordering three murders.

The Marguin Brothers together with Veselin Toshev, Stefan Rangelov, Ivo Karageorgiev, and Biser Iliev were charged with organizing a criminal group and plotting the murders of Nikola Damyanov, and Ivan Todorov, aka The Doctor (a large-scale mafia boss specialized at international cigarettes contraband), and of General Lyuben Gotsev (who survived the attempt on his life).

The trial was scheduled to kick off on November 12 2010, but was postponed due to one of the defendants, Stefan Rangelov, having a heart attack one day earlier. The presence of charged individuals is not mandatory in the Court of Appeal, but the defense demanded that Rangelov show up himself for the trial.

Five witnesses of the defendants and five witnesses of the accusation will be questioned on Friday.
