The Dutch and Belgian community in Bulgaria's Sofia welcomed Sinterklaas, celebrating the name day of St. Nicholas.

The Sinterklaas holiday is known as the most popular traditional Dutch and Flemish holiday celebrated annually on Saint Nicholas' eve (5 December) in the Netherlands, and on the morning of 6 December in Belgium.

60 Dutch and Belgian kids met Sinterklaas in Sofia receiving presents at an event at the National Palace of Culture sponsored for the first time by both the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Embassy of Belgium.

It was originally supposed to take place in the open but the torrential rains in Sofia forced the organizers to hold it indoors.
