Bulgaria’s top male tennis player, Grigor Dimtirov, has reached the quarterfinals at the ATP Challenger in Helsinki, Finland.

In the second round, the 19-year-old Bulgarian defeated the Russian Konstantin Kravchuk by 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 and gained 25 ATP ranking points.

In the next game, the Bulgarian star will play against the 24-year-old Julian Reister from Germany, who currently ranks 113.

The two met in 2008 when Reister defeated Dimitrov in the qualifications of the Basel ATP tournament.

The Bulgarian currently holds the 112th position in the ATP ranking. If he wins the ATP Challenger in Helsinki, he will manage to enter the Top 100 by the end of the year.

Dimitrov was recently announced 2010 Best Male Prospect by the UK multi-sports website Sportinglife.com.
