The Bulgarian Council of Ministers has approved and proposed for ratification the bilateral agreement with Syria on the international road transportation of passengers and goods.

The intergovernmental agreement regulates the bilateral ties in the area of road transportation in the context of the Bulgarian government's policy for cooperation with the countries in the Middle East.

It will be enforced for international road transportation of passengers and goods from or to Bulgaria and Syria and for transit transportation.

Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov confirmed the deal while in Damascus in April 2010.

More recently, the relations between Bulgaria and Syria were officially revamped, as Syrian president President Bashar al-Assad visited Sofia in November and had talks with Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov, as well as with his counterpart Georgi Parvanov.
