Bulgarian world ice-dancing champion Albena Denkova has announced she does not intend to run for President of the Bulgarian Skating Federation.

Denkova, who is expecting her first child from her partner Maxim Staviski in February 2011, has also stated that in her opinion, the general meeting of the federation will be completely legitimate, as all requirements had been met.

The general meeting will be held on Wednesday at the building of the Sports Ministry. Besides the budget, participants will also discuss the proposal for dismissal of Mariela Staykova from her position as President at the Bulgarian Skating Federation and as a member of the board, and her replacement.

Staykova, who is a lawyer, was temporarily appointed President of the federation after Denkova resigned from the position in December 2009. Stoykova had stated she had her own business and would resign in March, but she did not.

“I do not think I would be a good President at the Bulgarian Skating Federation. At the moment I have more important tasks, in personal aspect. For now, someone else will have to be appointed,” Denkova said.

The mandate of the current Board expires at the beginning of 2011, when new elections will be held.
