Bulgaria’s top male tennis star, Grigor Dimitrov, has started his participation in the EUR 106,500 ATP Challenger in Helsinki, Finland with a victory over Seed 1 Tobias Kamke.

The 19-year-old Bulgarian star defeated Kamke, who currently ranks 66th, by 7-6(4), 7-5. This was the fifth win over Top 100 player in Dimitrov’s career.

For the victory in the first round, he gained 10 points. In the second round, he will face the 25-year-old Russian Konstantin Kravchuk, who currently ranks 127th. Earlier this year, Dimitrov defeated him in the final of the ATP Challenger in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Bulgarian tennis star currently holds the 112th position in the ATP ranking. If he performs well in the ATP Challenger in Helsinki, he has a chance to enter the Top 100 by the end of the year.

Dimitrov was recently announced 2010 Best Male Prospect by the UK multi-sports website Sportinglife.com.
