North Korea Reportedly Fires Artillery on South Korea

North Korea has reportedly fired artillery shells across its western maritime border, prompting return fire from South Korea, the BBC reported.
According to witnesses, some of the shells landed on a South Korean island, setting dozens of houses on fire and hurting four soldiers.
South Korea’s Defense Ministry has issued its highest non-wartime alert in response to the incident that occurred at 5:34 am GMT. South Korean troops fired back immediately ins elf-defense.
The incident happened days after North Korea revealed it had a modern uranium enrichment plant.
The western maritime border has been the scene of numerous clashes between the two Koreas, who have not signed a peace treaty since the 1950-1953 Korean War, the BBC informs.
