Bulgaria's Stanka Zlateva Crowned World's Number 1 Again

Bulgarian Stanka Zlateva has been declared Best Female Wrestler of the year 2010 by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) for the fourth time.

In 2010 Stanka Zlateva won the European Cup for the fifth time and grabbed the gold world medal for the fourth time.

Zlateva won a world title for Bulgaria at the World Wrestling Championship in Moscow in September this year. In the 72-kg category final, Zlateva beat 2:0 Canada's Oheneva Akufto after being victorious in the previous rounds of the contest.

Zlateva, who has a silver medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, thus won her fourth world wresting title.

FILA designated the 2010 Best Wrestlers straight after the World Championship in Moscow on the basis of the criteria defined by the Technical Department. FILA President awarded the Best Wrestlers of the year during a ceremony that was held in Baku on 18th of October.

For the first time in history, Azerbaijan became the first countryto win the title of Best Wrestlers of the year during two consecutive years in Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling.

In 2009, Mr. Farid Mansurov (60kg - GR) and Mr. Zelimkhan Huseynov (96kg - FS) received this prize. The 2010 Best Wrestlers are Mr. Alyev Hasan (60kg - GR) and Mr. Gazyumov Khetag (96kg - FS).
