The name of the new Head of Bulgaria's Military Intelligence is to be known in 10 days, Bulgarian Defense Minister Anyu Angelov declared.

He clarified that he has not discussed the topic with Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov during the recent NATO summit in Lisbon, but was positive that appointing one of the current Deputy Heads of Military Intelligence for the position would be a reasonable chice.

"I know who he is, but I will not share his name yet," Angelov said.

Reports mention the name of Veselin Ivanov.

On August 17, Parvanov, who is also Commander in Chief of the Bulgarian Army, blocked Defense Minister, Anyu Angelov's previous candidate, Commodore Valentin Gagashev, after blocking earlier another choice of the Minister – Dincho Karamunchev, thus leaving the intelligence services without a head for months.

Resently, the Bulgarian cabinet finally succumbed to the will of President, Georgi Parvanov, and withdrew Gagashev 's nomination for Head of the country's military intelligence.

Since September 1 2010, the military intelligence is headed by Gen. Detelin Mazhgurov, who is in charge temporarily.

The President not approving Gagashev for the position led to a war with Defense Minister Angelov, who stated last week that the long-term goal of President Parvanov, is to have his own "mole" in the military intelligence services.
