Bulgaria's top male tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, was announced 2010 Best Men's Prospect by the UK multi-sports website Sportinglife.com.

"In many respects it was the year that wasn't, as none of the likes of Marin Cilic, Ernests Gulbis, John Isner or even Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych quite managed to muscle into top-level contention. Lower down the scale, former junior star Grigor Dimitrov continued to make promising progress, winning three successive summer Challengers and finishing the year ranked 114," the website says.

After winning the ATP Challengers in Trier, Germany,Dortmund, Germany, and Irun, Spain, the 19-year-old Bulgarian star jumped from 360th to 114th place in the ATP ranking.

This is the second that Dimitrov is featured in the list of Sportinglife, after winning the boys singles at Wimbledon and the junior US Open in 2008.

He still has a chance to enter the top 100 by the end of the year if he performs well at his last tennis tournament for the year, the EUR 106,500 ATP Challenger in Helsinki, Finland.

The Bulgarian tennis star has already secured his participation in the qualifications for the Australian Open next year, where he will be among the seeds.

According to Sportinglife, the Men's Player of the Year is Rafael Nadal and the Women's Player of the Year is Vera Zvonareva. Petra Kvitova from the Chezk Republic was announced The Best Women's Prospect.
