Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov could not participate in Friday's parliamentary sitting due to health reasons, the Deputy Chair of the Parliament, Anastas Anastasov, has announced.

The news for his absence was announced on Tuesday. However, in the meantime, Borisov was participating in the official celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Bulgarian Supreme Court of Cassations, where he defended Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who has become a target of criticism lately, in regards to the accusations and checks of his properties by the tax agents.

"Trying to crush Tsvetanov is like trying to crush a hedgehog with a naked butt," Borisov said.

The Prime Minister was supposed to be present at the parliamentary sitting on Friday, in order to answer questions from the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Sergey Stanishev. However, he has taken advantage of his right to answer in seven days.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the Chair of the Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva, was late and the sitting started later than expected.

The MP from "Coalition for Bulgaria," Petar Kurumbashev, has asked Tsacheva to start coming on time for the parliamentary sittings.

"It is uncomfortable for all MPs and ministers to come on time and wait for one person, even if this is the chair of the parliament. This is about self-respect, as well as respect to the MPs," Kurumbashev said.

Tsacheva has accepted the critiques and promised she would correct herself.
