Bulgaria's erratic ex Chief Prosecutor Nikola Filchev has stated he expects to be arrested "any time now" based on what he saw a "political stageplay."

Speaking for Nova TV in the light of allegations by Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov that Filchev is implicated in two murders, Filchev stated that there is no evidence against him, but he is rather the victim of a plot. He did not specify who is behind that plot.

The former chief prosecutor confirmed he had been questioned in the case against former secret agent and murky businessman Aleksei Petrov, but only as someone who talked to Petrov "as his neighbor."

Tuesday morning Minister Tsvetanov had stated that one of several versions under investigation has it that Filchev and Petrov came together to eliminate Prosecutor Nikolay Kolev and lawyer Nadezhda Georgieva.

Later Filchev stroke back at the accusations, accusing in turn the interior minister of acting illegitimately. "Such unsubstantiated allegations are actually breaking the law," stated the controversial ex Chief Prosecutor for Darik Radio.

"Tsvetanov acts as a prosecutor and instead of collecting evidence, he goes around TV stations and throws accusations and sometimes sentences," said Filchev.

He voiced dismay at what he saw as Tsvetanov's practice of alleging who is broke the law and who not, and stressed that the struggle against organized crime must be carried out with legitimate means and under the observance of the rule of law.

Filchev promised to give a fresh interview to Nova TV Wednesday morning.
