The sum of EUR 400,000 is too little for my life, Bulgaria’s PM Boyko Borisov said, confirming the information about an assassination plot against him, published in the daily “24 Chassa” (24 Hours).

According to the publication, about 10 days ago, Bulgarian intelligence have intercepted phone calls and meetings of some key personalities and discovered the latest plan to murder Borisov for the price of EUR 400,000.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister has stated that people who have such plans also have a motive, like affected personal financial interests.

His theory was earlier confirmed by the Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who added that all necessary measures have been taken for Borisov’s protection.

“Unfortunately, neighboring Serbia has such a precedent, so we just have to be careful. We are talking about many interests, amounting to billions, which we not only stopped, but we are also chasing these people. Many colleagues from other countries are also working on similar problems. So at least we can joke about it that we will be well revenged,” Borisov said.

The Prime Minister is currently in Bucharest where he is participating in a summit on the future of EU’s Danube Strategy.

According to the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV, there has not been a visible increase of security for Borisov in Romania.
