Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, has stated that both Romania and Bulgaria are hoping for second, third and fourth bridge between the countries over the Danube River.

Borisov, who is on an official visit to Romania, said Monday during his meeting with his Romanian counterpart, Emil Boc, that for now the two countries remain the only tourist states that have only one connection over the Danube River.

The Bulgarian PM is in Bucharest for the signing of a declaration between the 14 Danube countries.

Borisov has stated that Bulgaria and Romania should take advantage of the presence of the Hungarian Prime Minister, in order to receive his support since Hungary will head the EU Presidency from January 2011.

“Romania and Bulgaria want to join the Schengen zone for free movement of people and goods in March next year. In order to do this, we have to submit the documents in the European Parliament on time,” Borisov said.

The Romanian PM presented to the Bulgarian delegation Bucharest’s ideas for hydro power projects on the Danube River and his ideas for new bridges.
