Bulgaria Targets Austrian Investors during Vienna Economic Forum

Bulgarian Economy Minister Traikov will head a delegation to Austria for talks with leading Austrian companies and participation in the 7th edition of the Vienna Economic Forum.

In Vienna, Traikov will accompanied by the head of the InvestBulgaria Agency Borislav Stefanov and other senior officials, the Bulgarian Economy Ministry announced.

The 7th edition of the Vienna Economic Forum will take place on November 7-8 in the Austrian capital, and will bring together participants such as the Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann, OPEC Secretary-General Abdalla S. El-Badri, and Ukrainian Mikola Azarov.

In Vienna, Traikov and Stefanov will meet with the Veit Sorger. President of the Federation of Austrian Industry, and representatives of over 20 leading Austrian companies. The Federation encompasses about 3 500 Austrian companies including some of the largest foreign investors in Bulgaria – Telekom Austria, EVN, Raiffeisenbank, among others.

The Vienna Economic Forum (VEF) is an NGO founded in 2004 to promote economic cooperation in the region between the Adriatic and the Black Sea. In April 2010, the Bulgarian Economy Ministry hosted a conference of the VEF in Sofia.

Austria is the largest foreign investor in Bulgaria to date with a total investment of EUR 5.9 B, which is 15.5% of the total FDI in Bulgaria in the past 15 years.
