Students and professors from Sofia University, Bulgaria's oldest and most prestigious institution, are staging yet another rally over radical cuts in State funding for higher education.

This is the latest of a series of protests, the previous on October 20 and 28, triggered by demands for adequate financing.

The University's President, Prof. Ivan Ilchev, will present the declaration regarding the school's position on the budget cuts.

A week ago Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, vowed that despite inability to pay bills, heating in universities and colleges would not be stopped in order to not send students on forced break.

The schools' leaderships, however, insist, such break is unavoidable if the cabinet does not undertake the necessary measures.

It is expected that students from other higher education institutions would join their colleagues from the Sofia University, in a rally scheduled to coincide with the Day of Enlighteners in Bulgaria.
