Just hours after launching repair works on the Sofia beltway, Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, opened construction of the "Skobeleva Mayka" junction near the second largest city of Plovdiv.

Borisov said even in times of crisis and budget deficit, his cabinet is dedicated to make things that Bulgarians have been waiting for in the last 20 years happen.

The PM pointed out the State has secured BGN 8 M in order to start the construction works of a junction of key importance since it connects Plovdiv with the city's industrial zone, the largest district "Trakiya," the road to the town of Asenovgrad and the city of Smolyan and with the "Trakiya" highway and the city of Haskovo.

The road section is 1 300-meter long and has a deadline of 18 months from now. The contractor "Patishta Plovdiv" (Roads Plovdiv) made the commitment Sunday before Borisov to finish it in only one year.

The PM further stressed on the fact that the junction's construction is carried out together with several others such as the southern loop of the capital Sofia's beltway, 10 kilometers of the road between the city of Shumen and the Black Sea capital Varna, and the "Meden Rudnik" overpass in the other Black Sea city of Burgas.
