Mariah Carey Confirms Pregnancy Rumors

Pop star Mariah Carey has officially confirmed the rumor that she is pregnant, People Magazine reported.

"Yes, we are pregnant. This is true. It's been a long journey. It's been tough because I've been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy," Carey said in a TV interview Thursday.

The 41-year-old singer and her husband, Nick Cannon, 30, have refused to reveal the due date of their first child because of superstitions, triggered by a miscarriage from two years ago.

"[The loss] strengthened our relationship so much. She handled it so well," Cannon said, as cited by People magazine.

However, the rumors for the pregnancy have been circling the media for months. They have been fueled by the smooth bloom of Carey and the family's statements that they want to have children.

The couple married in 2008 in an impromptu ceremony on April 30, 2008, at the Bahamas.

Next week, Carey will release her 13th album, called "Marry Christmas II You."

For her 20-year career, the Pop/R&B singer has sold more than 200 million albums, singles and videos worldwide, which makes her one of the best-selling music artists.
