A Bulgarian exhibit that was supposed to be shown in Brussels was shipped to Budapest causing outrage among Socialist Members of the European Parliament.

The exhibition dedicated to November 1, Day of Bulgarian Enlighteners, was supposed to take place at the European Parliament in Brussels Wednesday night. It is organized by the Bulgarian Socialist MEPs, and featured 12 banners of unique Bulgarian symbols of the National Revival Period (18th-19th century).

Instead of being delivered in Brussels, however, the banners ended up in Hungary's Budapest, according to Vladislav Ivanov, associate of Socialist MEP Iliana Iotova. All storage facilities of the Brussels Airport were thoroughly searched until it became known that the shipment ended up in Budapest.

The misplaced delivery ruined the exhibit for which the Socialist MEPs invited 250 VIP guests.

In a media statement, Iotova's office said the Sofia Airport and the Bulgaria Air company ruined the event and did not provide it with any help when the shipment was lost.

According to the press center of the Sofia International Airport, the shipment was handled by Bulgaria Air, and all inquiries must be directed to the airline.
