Consensus to Be Sealed on Bulgarian Welfare System Tweak Sunday

Sunday a consensus agreement will be signed by the Bulgarian government, employers and trade unions over the much disputed size of proposed increases in the payments for retirement funds.

This information was revealed Saturday by the new president of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions Plamen Dimitrov.

The agreement is supposed to be signed by 4pm EET Sunday, announced Dimitrov.

There was much going back and forth as to the specific percentage of the proposed increase. The number initially proposed by government was 3 percentage points, but then it backed down at criticisms from employers, lowering it to 1.5.

The currently-brandished number in what has come to be a very confusing and heated debate is an upping by 1.8 percentage points.

Saturday Dimitrov commented that all three parties are now ready for compromise and consensus.
