Europol Head Pays Second Visit to Bulgaria This Year

Europol Director Rob Wainwright arrives on a one-day working visit to Sofia, six months after his last stay here, when he highly praised the authorities combat with organized crime.

Rob Wainwright is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov and US Ambassador James Warlick.

During his previous visit to the country in April this year Rob Wainwright said he was highly impressed with the results achieved by the Bulgarian police and the country can serve as an example to all countries in the region.

Wainwright described the new legal framework aimed at preventing money laundering and at property confiscation over tax evasion is very efficient.

Europol is the European Law Enforcement Agency which aims at improving the effectiveness and cooperation of the competent authorities in the Member States in preventing and combating terrorism, unlawful drug trafficking and other serious forms of organized crime.
