Bulgaria to Bid for 7th Spot in World Volleyball Championship

Bulgaria's national volleyball team suffered a 1:3 loss from Russia Friday night in the playoffs of the World Championship in Italy.

The Bulgarians lost the first two games (20:25; 24:26), won the third (25:20), and lost the fourth (23:25).

Thus, Bulgaria will play a match for the seventh place in the World Volleyball Championship. The Bulgarians will face the loser from the USA-Germany match, while the Russians will play against the winner for the 5th spot.

Bulgaria came close to entering the first four but lost dramatically 2:3 from Cuba in the quarter-final.
