Bulgaria Defeat Spain in Volleyball Championship

The men's national volleyball team of Bulgaria defeated the team of Spain  in their first game of the third round of the 2010 Volleyball World Championship in Italy.

The Bulgarians, led by Italian coach Silvano Prandi, were superior during most of the match and had a deserved victory. They beat the Spanish 3:1 (25:21, 27:25, 26:28, 25:18).

The captain of the Bulgarians, Vladimir Nikolov, did not show very good skills in the first game, but managed to advance later in the match. His teammate Tsvetan Sokolov also showed good skills.

However, Todor Aleksiev showed a perfect performance, making the most points in the match – 18. Matey Kaziyski added 17 more and Vladimir Nikolov – 13.

The Spanish Sergio Noda and Ivan Perez made the most points for their team – 17 and 16 respectively.

On Tuesday, the Spaniards will face the Cuban team, led by coach Orlando Blackwood. The Bulgarians will play against Blackwood's team on Wednesday.

The winner of the group will classify for the semifinals of the 2010 Volleyball World Championship.
