The Bulgarian police have seized a machine used to make fake EU and USD bills and have arrested three people during a special police operation in a village near the town of Kazanlak.

The information was reported Saturday by Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

The bust happened during an attempt of the alleged perpetrators to carry out a deal for EUR 50 000 in the town of Shipkovo in central Bulgaria while the equipment was confiscated in the village of Dolno Sahrane.

Tsvetanov said the machine was placed in small shop near a pig farm so that the noise from the latter can silence the running equipment while the work of the criminals was very professional.

Two of the three detainees have long rap sheets. The probe is continuing.

Europol is applying much effort to counter the making and the distribution of fake bills and Bulgaria is part of the organized crime dealing with money forgery, the Minister added.
