Bulgaria's Defense Ministry has come up with a new scheme to modernize some of the helicopters of the Bulgarian Air Force.

Defense Minister Anyu Angelov announced Friday, as cited by BTA, that the military plans to sell half of all of its Soviet-made Mi-17 and Mi-24 helicopters in order to raise funds to modernize some of the remaining ones.

Thus, the Defense Ministry will be selling a total of six Mi-17s and six Mi-24s, and the money will be used to modernize three Mi-17s, said Gen. Angelov.

If such a deal is executed, the Bulgarian armed forces will be left with six Mi-17s and six Mi-24s in total.
