Bulgaria's Minister of Defense Anyu Angelov eagerly expects President Georgi Parvanov to finally approve his proposal for a head of Bulgaria's military intelligence.

Speaking in an interview Monday, Angelov stated that he expects the situation to be solved by "mid-October."

Mininister Angelov reiterated his impatience with the situation, saying it cannot last for long.

Tensions between Bulgaria's President and Minister of Defense erupted over the summer after Parvanov refused twice to appoint the persons suggested by Angelov and approved by Cabinet for the position of head of the military intelligence.

According to Bulgaria's Constitution, it is the country's President who appoints senior military officials.

In Monday's interview, Angelov kept a defiant position, stating that he is not conducting any formal consultations with the President over the matter.
