The individuals behind the plotting of high-profile murders under the so-called "Killers" scheme are four, Bulgarian Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, told reporters Friday.

According to Tsvetanov, it was the same person, who ordered the murder of the businessman from the City of Shumen, Rumen Rachev and of attorney Petar Lupov, while the murder of controversial Samokov businessman and football club owner, Yiru Galev, was ordered by another individual and a third person is behind the murder of two businessmen from Sofia, whom the Minister failed to identify. He said all murders had different motives.

Tsvetanov further stated with the latest arrests, the probe is moving much faster , but failed to offer more details such as how long the gang has been executing these murders for hire. He did, however, hint the group was connected to notorious underground bosses from the so-called Transition Period in Bulgaria, all now deceased. The group can definitely be connected to five such murders, but they could have been behind several more and all would be uncovered, he promised.

When asked about the price of a murder, Tsvetanov said it varied depending on specifics, but the one for Galev's assassination was EUR 50 000 for the actual killer.

Three more people were arrested Thursday in the latest sequel of the special police operation codenamed "The Killers" - Radoslav Dimitrov, Yordan Kolev and Petar Amadzhov. The first two have been already released, according to a Darik radio report.

Amadzhov is charged with being an accomplice in Rachev's and Lupov's murder and with illegal gun ownership. He is held for 72 hours in the Shumen jail.
