Bulgaria's national football team do need their new coach, German Lothar Matthaeus, according to the head of the Bulgarian Football Union Borislav Mihaylov.

Matthaeus signed his contract with Bulgaria Thursday afternoon, and was formally presented by Mihaylov to the media.

"Lothar Matthaeus is the right guy for us. Let's all of us create a positive atmosphere around the team. The national football team belongs to all of Bulgaria," the BFU President declared to the journalists.

Mihaylov said the legendary German footballer has also promised to help Bulgaria with their youth.

For his first match with Bulgaria against Wales at the beginning of October, Matthaeus will get help from Tsanko Tsvetanov, a former star player of the Bulgarian national team, and Mihail Madanski.
