Medics from the Bulgarian Doctors' Union booed the Deputy Finance Minister, Vladislav Goranov, and threw water bottles at him during Friday's discussion on cuts of hospital fundings.

Even though Goranov announced that the Finance Ministry has decided to provide BGN 80 M to the hospitals every month, many of the doctors could not hear his suggestion because of the loud shouts, which caused Goranov's leaving the Parliamentary hall.

Before he left, however, the deputy finance minister explained that the funding that the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) owes to the hospitals for 2010 would be taken from the fund's budget for next year.

He also pointed out that the money will be repaid only to those hospitals which agree to the new rules of work and sign the annexes with NZOK, which envision the implementation of delegated budgets.

"When there is a restricted budget, everything has to happen in certain frames," Goranov said.
