Vasil Mihaylov, the brother of the Deputy Prosecutor of Bulgaria's western city of Pernik, Biser Mihaylov, has announced he will sue the Bulgarian state for moral damages after the investigation against his brother is over.

Boser Mihaylov was arrested on Thursday over information of racket and coercion. He has been accused of blackmailing a fellow-citizen.

During the operation, the police also searched his brother's house and distributed a video showing Vasil Mihaylov in his underwear. It was later announced that the police have mistaken the businessman for his brother.

“I do not deal with loan sharking, but I have friends who have a different business and when I have some extra money, I put them into this business,” Vasil Mihaylov said Tuesday in an interview for the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV.

The Sofia Prosecutor's Office also charged the deputy prosecutor from Pernik of blackmailing after being alarmed by Irina Lekova and Kalin Lekov, fellow-citizens of Mihaylov. It has been discovered that Lekov and the deputy prosecutor have been family friends for 10 years.

The Ethics Committee at the Supreme Judicial Council is expected to decide whether to start a disciplinary proceeding against Mihaylov, who was released on a bail of BGN 5,000.

The brother, Vasil Mihaylov, has announced that after the police search of his home, besides the seized EUR 40,000, he found out that EUR 2,700 and BGN 8,000 more were missing.

He also stated he will submit a complaint in the Interior Ministry for the missing money and will sue the Bulgarian state for moral damages.
