The Chair of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Desislava Atanasova, has acknowledged that the staff changes in the Health Ministry have delayed the reforms in the sector with one year.

Atanasova's statement was made Friday in the morning show of the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV during a debate with the MP from the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Maya Manolova, on the possible no-confidence vote against the cabinet of the center-right GERB party.

According to Manolova, the education and health care systems will be crippled by the current government and will need years to recover.

She stated that the theme of the no-confidence vote will be connected to the failures in one of these spheres.

The Socialist also noted that the pessimism and the social despair are at very high levels in the Bulgarian society.

The Chair of the Parliamentary Health Committee said she does not see a reason for a no-confidence vote, but admitted that the health care system experiences many problems because it is not reformed.

"The system is not reformed. The first step would be the changes in the Hospital Act, which aim not only accessibility to health care, but also to quality services," Atanasova said.

She also pointed out that the changes in the management of the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) and the Health Ministry have delayed the improvements in the health system with a year.

Atanasova has firmly stated that the main goal would be to stop the draining of money from NZOK through the implementation of electronic health card.
