Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency will collect 100% of the taxes due to the state for 2010, which amount to about BGN 12 B, promised the agency director Krasimir Stefanov.

Speaking in the Parliament, Stefanov announced Thursday that in 2010 the National Revenue Agency has prevented frauds for more than BGN 1 B VAT included.

He also pointed out the success of the tax agents in operations at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The agency head also pointed out that Bulgaria is the only EU member state in which the revenue administration does not have an access to bank accounts of companies and citizens.

He added that the Revenue Agency is studying the best of the European policies and will implement them in Bulgaria.

"We had a meeting with the Association of Banks in Bulgaria" and they stated their support that the payments of BGN 5,000 and more should be done only through banks. We will introduce this rule by the end of the year," Stefanov said.

He added that before the introduction of the rule, the leadership of the National Revenue Agency would need to meet a few more times with the Association of Banks in Bulgaria.

"The only concern of the banks was the access of the Revenue Agency to information that could be used for improper purposes," Stefanov said.
