Jose Maria Aznar: Bulgarian Cabinet Is and Will Be Successful

Former Spanish PM Jose Maria Aznar voiced praise for the Bulgarian government during his official visit to the country Monday.

"I am convinced that Bulgaria will have a great future. Strategically speaking, the policy of the cabinet is successful and I am certain that under the leadership of PM Boyko Borisov the government's resolve and good work will have goals achieved," stated the honorary chairman of the Spanish People's Party.

Borisov is the leader of center-right GERB party, which is a fellow EPP organization with Aznar's party.

Apart from meeting the Bulgarian PM, Aznar will take part in a forum entitled "The Role of Rightist Governments in Overcoming the Effects of the Global Financial and Economic Crisis."

On his part, Borisov stated that a strong emphasis was put on the absorption of EU funds during his talks with the Spanish ex-PM.

Borisov likened the situation of his cabinet with that of Aznar's when he took office in the mid-1990s when Spain was falling behind in absorption and infrastructure.

The Bulgarian PM promised that his government will achieve results similar to those of Jose Maria Aznar's two cabinets 1996-2004.
