US Domino's Pizza Arrives in Bulgaria

The US-based pizza maker and distributor, Domino's Pizza is entering the Bulgarian market in October, the brand's representative for Bulgaria, Nikola Nikolov, told the Bulgarian daily Dnevnik.

The first restaurant will in the "Borovo" district in the capital Sofia, however the chain is planning to quickly expand to most major cities in the country, Nikolov said, but declined to offer more details.

Domino's Pizza specializes in home and office deliveries and belongs to the Bain Capital Investment Fund. In addition to traditional pizza, it offers sweet pizzas, pasta and sandwiches.

Nikolov vows fast delivery, outstanding service, and high quality of food.

In Bulgaria, Domino's Pizza will be a franchise as it is in the US and all around the globe. The restaurants will be owned by Nikolov, who acquired the business rights for Bulgaria from the Greek Anatron Food Services after 6 months of negotiations.

The chain was established in the US in the 1960s and now has 9 000 restaurants in 60 countries. It entered the market in neighboring Romania 2 months ago.

In the second quarter of 2010, the company registered a growth in revenues of 14% compared to the negative 2009 results.

According to data of Euromonitor International, the fast food market in Europe is growing, despite the crisis – 8% up in 2009, compared with 2008.
