Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, will appear again Friday before the Members of the Parliament to give explanations regarding the police brutality incident in the southern city of Kardzhali.

A 20-year-old girl was injured at the end of July after policemen stormed an apartment and thrashed a family inside.

Tsvetanov is appearing on the request of 4 Members of the Parliament.

At the end of the summer session the Minister stood firmly on the side of the policemen, explaining they were trying to bust a prostitution ring and the son, Kadir Mustafov, was the accomplice of a local pimp. He said the girl was injured because she was standing behind the door when the police entered the home "a little bit too fast." He failed to specify if there was a court warrant for the search.

The family, who are ethnic Turks, are planning to sue Bulgaria wiht the European Human Rights Court in Strasbourg.

In July, the Deputy Chair of the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), Lyutvi Mestan, declared his party will remain relentless until they receive satisfactory explanations about the warrant, and if the Minister has received a report on the incident, documenting the injuries, which have been confirmed by a physician. DPS further seek to find out if rumors the father, Sabahatin Mustafov, had been offered a bribe by the police in order to keep quiet are true, and what Tsvetanov understands when he uses the term"full operational freedom."

The Minister said on numerous occasions earlier he had apologized to the family, but insisted DPS are taking the incident out of proportion because Kadir, the son, is an activist of their youth organization in the city.

8 other ministers will appear in plenary hall Friday to respond to MPs inquiries; Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov will have to answer the most questions – 9, all related to Bulgaria's energy projects.
