The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has urged an expansion of Bulgarian business and economic ties with Chile.

At a special meeting Wednesday, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Chile Valeri Yotov and the Chair of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov have outlined the priority opportunities in developing Bulgaria's business ties with Latin American nation.

According to Yotov, the Bulgarian business sector should use the upswing and expansion in Chile's trade with the European Union members.

He has pointed out that Chile presents opportunities characterized by a favorable economic climate, and lack of corruption and red tape obstacles, while Bulgarian companies enjoy the benefits of agreements for duty-free trade and visa-free travel.

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and His Excellency has listed several key business areas as harboring a great potential for trade with Chile: joint production and exports of fertilizers, electric tools, high-quality spirits, clothes, shoes, solar panels as well as a development of bilateral tourism ties.

The BCCI has pointed out that Bulgaria could use Chile's experience in the construction of small salmon farms in fresh-water lakes as the Latin American country is the second largest producer of salmon after Norway.

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has made clear its position that the achievements of Bulgarian diplomats must be assessed based on the level of bilateral trade and business relations with the respective country or region.
