Bulgarian Doctors to Present Their Demands to PM Borisov

Doctors, nurses, unions and patient organizations will meet with Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov to discuss the crisis in the hospital sector.

Representatives of the Public Health Council, in which professional organizations of doctors, nurses, unions and patient organizations participate, will demand guaranteeing the same amount of funding for hospitals as last year.

“In order to survive, the system needs BGN 200 M. If they are not provided, the Bulgarian Doctors Union will start more effective protests,” said the Chair of the Union, Tsvetan Raychinov in an interview for the Bulgarian private TV channel bTV.

He once again supported the request for the money to be provided by the reserve of the National Health Insurance Fund because “these money has been collected for our health”.

The doctors will demand from Boyko Borisov a written agreement that their requests will be fulfilled. They have insisted all the money that the hospitals have made so far to be paid to them.

The Bulgarian Doctors Union has also demanded a full transparency of the National Health Insurance Fund's work.

At the meeting with the Bulgarian PM, another demand will be the Public Health Council to be made a permanent body of the Council of Ministers and to be able to participate in the discussions of all decisions related to the health care.
