The alleged murderer of the Bulgarian Belneyski sisters, Lazar Kolev, has missed only one meal after he declared hunger strike last week.

Kolev, who is the only suspect for the murder of the sisters, has announced he was going on hunger strike since August 24 as a protest against the court's decision to leave him behind bars.

The deputy head of the jail in the Bulgarian city of Pazardzhik, Gavril Stanchev, has said he could not confirm or decline the statements that Kolev has ended the hunger strike, which he has promised to continue until his release.

The 30-year-old man has been left in jail by the District Court in Pazardzhik and later by the Plovdiv Appellate Court.

The charges against Kolev are based on an expertise, which proves that his DNA material matched completely the DNA found on the bodies of the sister Rosistsa and Hristina Belneyski, aged 18 and 15.

The girls went missing in January 2006, after leaving a disco bar in Pazardzhik. They were found dead at the beginning of February near the town of Peshtera.
