150 Athletes Climb 1700m in Bulgaria's Vitosha Run

150 amateur and professional enthusiasts participated in the Vitosha Run contest Sunday to climb Cherni Vrah nearby Sofia on Bulgaria's hiking day.

The contest was won by Vesselin Tzinzov, who covered the 18km track with 1734 m ascent for 1:42:00 h.

The contest among women and older participants was won by 44-year old Rumyana Panovska at 2:09:52 h.

The youngest participant was 10-year old Boyan Ivandzhikov who scored an unbelievable 2:38 m.

The contest started out in downtown Sofia nearby the National Palace of Culture. It was organized by the Marathon Society with the help of Sofia Municipality and the Bulgarian Athletics Federation.

The event marks the 115th anniversary of organized hiking in Bulgaria.
