94% of Bulgarians Claim Bad Economic Situation in May

Almost 94% of the Bulgarians have assessed the economic situation in the country in May as bad, shows a new Eurobarometer survey.

According to the results, only 4% of the Bulgarians thought the economic situation in May was good and 2% did not express opinion.

Eurobarometer's survey was conducted between May 5-28 among 27 000 from all European countries.

About 95% of the Bulgarians have assessed the employment situation as bad and only 2% thought it was good.

The respondents from Bulgaria have been concerned mostly about the increasing prices and inflation, the economic situation in the country, the unemployment and health care. The issues in the pension reform, taxes, education and crime in the country have also been pointed as problematic in Bulgaria for May.

75% of all European citizens have supported the strengthening of the economic governance in the EU, which shows that the EU plays a major role in the overcoming of the financial and economic crises, according to Europeans.

“The spring survey, conducted in the midst of the crisis, shows the difficulties and challenges that Europeans had to face recently,” said Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship.

About 76% of the Bulgarian have expressed support for the increased economic governance in the EU. However, 30% of them believe that the EU could take the most effective measures for overcoming the consequences of the financial and economic crises.
