The Sofia Court of Appeals left in jail Daniel Dimitrov aka Releto (The Relay), one of the members of the “Impudent” gang of high-profile kidnappers.

The court ruled Thursday that there was enough evidence that Dimitrov has carried out the crimes, despite the contrary statements by his defense.

The Relay was one of the last arrested members of the Impudent gang. According to the investigators, he has been engaged in the thefts of cars that were used in the kidnappings and subsequently started participating in the abductions.

The Prosecutor's Office has stated that the defendant has been directly connected to the kidnappings of the son of Bulgaria's former Transport Minister Vilhelm Kraus- Mihail, the businessman Kiro Kirov and the former President of the Litex Football Club, Angel Bonchev, and his wife Aneliya.

25 people were detained by the police on December 18, 2009, as result of a special operation codenamed "The Impudent," cracking down on the gang which has terrorized Bulgaria by kidnapping important businessmen and/or their relatives. The operation was carried out in Sofia and in the northern cities of Veliko Tarnovo and Montana.

The special operation was conducted jointly by the Interior Ministry, the State National Security Agency DANS and the Prosecutor’s Office.
