The reconstruction of the road junction near the town of Byala in the Ruse Region in northern Bulgaria was finally launched Wednesday by the Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development, Rosen Plevneliev.

The works were made possible by the BGN 3.5 which were set aside when the State budget 2010 was updated.

The renovation of the road began in 2008 after a very serious traffic accident that killed 18 people traveling on a bus. The plan is to expand the bridge over the Yantra River and to build a traffic circle. The deadline is November 1, 2010.

The road is part of the trans-European corridor #9 from Eastern Europe through Bulgaria to Turkey, Greece and the Middle East.
