Teams of the Civil Defense and the police from the cities of Gabrovo and Stara Zagora in Central Bulgaria took part in the rescue operation of two French tourists, the Stara Zagora police informs.

The foreigners, a man and a woman, were on their way to a race, but their vehicle fell in a pothole on a backroad between Gabrovo and the town of Karlovo. The call was received on the 112 emergency hotline, however the rescue teams had a difficult time locating the travelers over contradicting information from them.

The two were found around 3 am by the Gabrovo Civil Defense, 7 km from a mountain cabin. Their car had been towed and the tourists accommodated at a Gabrovo hotel. They called 112 again to express their gratitude for the speedy rescue and good organization.
