Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, promised BGN 1 000 as a reward to the 92 Bulgarian firefighters and 3 doctors, who helped quench the blazes that choked Russia.

Borisov spoke Friday night before the media, during the official ceremony at the Sofia airport, to greet the team returning from Russia, saying his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, personally expressed gratitude for their outstanding work, courage and profesionalism.

The funds will be voted during the first meeting of the Council of Ministers after the summer break, the PM said, adding after undergoing medical exams on Monday, the firemen will be able to immediately take off and stay with their families at one of the Interior Ministry's vacation homes.

Deputy Interior Minister, Pavlin Dimitrov, the Chief Secretary of Interior, Kalin Georgiev, the Head of the National Firefighting Services, Nikola Nikolov, and officials from the Russian Embassy in Sofia, were also at the airport to meet the team.

Earlier Friday, the 95 Bulgarians were decorated by Moscow region vice-governor for their brave efforts.
