Bulgarian police announced Friday morning they have arrested two persons in connection with a crack-down on an organized crime group engaged in dealing of drugs.

A third accomplice managed to escape and the police are after him.

Speaking for the Bulgarian National Radio, Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov said that police have struck a gang performing large-scale drug distribution.

They have also detained two vehicles containing 120 kg of amphetamines.

In the style characteristic of police operations under the GERB cabinet, Friday's operation has a codename - not surprisingly, "the Amphetamines."

The operation took place near the village of Trakiya in Stara Zagora region during the late hours Thursday night.

Bulgarian police are continuing work on the case Friday.

In a less-publicized operation, police in Plovdiv arrested six persons on suspicion of dealing in drugs and seized smaller amounts of banned substances.
