The manager of the UK football club Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, says his Bulgarian striker, Dimitar Berbatov, showed a marvelous performance in the match against Newcastle Monday evening.

Ferguson pointed out that he was happy about the team’s successful start with a 3:0 win in the Premier League, despite his disappointment with the Manchester United side's performance inside the opening half.

“The second half, however, was a far more accomplished display after the break. They were hard to break down but there was one spell when we were around their box for what must have been 10 minutes," Ferguson said, quoted by the British “Guardian.”

Regarding Dimitar Berbatov, the manager stated the latter was prominently involved and seemed eager to demonstrate he is a far better player than he was portrayed last season.

"I thought he should have scored four or five," Ferguson said. "He was maybe a little careless with his finishing but, overall, it was a marvelous performance."

In addition to Berbatov, Ferguson gave high marks to the entire team, and especially praised the 35-year-old Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
