Bulgaria Celebrates Traditional Crafts in Oreshak Village

Culture | August 13, 2010, Friday // 15:48|  views

The yearly fair of traditional crafts started Friday in the village of Oreshak nearby Troyan on the footholds of the Stara Planina mountains.

The fair, officially organized by the National Exhibition of Crafts and Arts, represents all ethnographic regions of Bulgaria

Over 200 craftsmen and traders are participating in this year's event.

Visitors can both enrich their cultural experience and buy useful things.

Traditionally, the culmination of the fair is Sunday's great Orthodox Christian holiday Dormition of the Holy Mother of God (called by Catholics the Assumption of Mary). That day is also the temple holiday of the Troyan Monastery and many people traditionally flock to it.
