Bulgaria-born Canadian actress Nina Dobrev has received two 2010 Teen Choice Awards for the TV show “The Vampire Diaries”, where she has the lead role.

At a ceremony Monday night in Los Angeles, Dobrev received the awards for TV Actress in Fantasy/Sci-Fi and for TV Show in the same category.

The 21-year-old actress gained popularity in the United States with her role as Elena Gilbert, a beautiful young girl caught between two vampire brothers in “The Vampire Diaries”.

Born in Bulgaria, Nina Dobrev moved to Canada at the age of 2 and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and in Atlanta, Georgia, where “The Vampire Diaries” is filmed.

Dobrev wrapped last year production on Montecito Pictures' "Chloe," with Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried and Liam Neeson. Past film credits include "Fugitive Pieces," with Ayelet Zurer and Rosamund Pike, "Away From Her," with Julie Christie, and "The Poet."

Other television credits include lead roles on "DeGrassi: The Next Generation" and MTV's "The American Mall," as well as a guest appearance on "Eleventh Hour." She has also appeared in the television movies "Never Cry Werewolf" and "Too Young to Marry."

As Elena Gilbert, the resilient, fresh-faced heroine of the CW's "The Vampire Diaries," Nina Dobrev has played a young woman with a lot on her plate - the recent deaths of her parents, a brother descending into drug abuse, a sulking ex and two suitors, who just happen to be vampires.
